Podcast – Young Tasmanian Alex Peroni in the European Le Mans Series

In the November 2019 Famous Last Words Podcast, I spoke with then 20-year-old Tasmanian racing driver Alex Peroni who was competing in open wheelers in Europe. Up until then he had success in the European Formula 4, Formula Renault and Formula 3 series and was hoping to progress to Formula 2.

Unfortunately, in September 2019 just 2 months before I spoke with him, he was involved in a horror crash at Monza, which could have very nearly ended his racing career.

Alex Peroni F3 Monza crash

Amazingly Alex recovered from a broken back sustained at Monza and was back racing Formula 3 in 2020 – a very disjointed and Covid affected year. Then last year as Covid continued to run wild around the world, he moved from Europe to America to compete in the Indy Lights series for what could be best described as a year of learning. But the good news is that for this year, he’s back in Europe and will be racing in the European Le Mans Series of Endurance races.

It’s an exciting transition for Alex as he teams up with fellow Australian James Allen and reigning champion John Falb in the G-Drive Racing by Algarve Pro Racing team.

I hope you enjoy this month’s podcast with Alex Peroni as he touches on the past, and talks about the future with great enthusiasm.
