‘Ferrari’ – The Movie

Over the last six months it seems that a new car-oriented movie is released every other week, with the most recent, just before Christmas being a biographical sports drama titled ‘Ferrari’.

No guessing as to what the basis of the story is about, however it’s the story within the story that makes this movie more than just a car movie.

Based on motorsport journalist Brock Yates 1991biography ‘Enzo Ferrari: the Man, the Cars, the Races, the Machine’, the film follows the personal and professional struggles of Enzo Ferrari, the Italian founder of Ferrari SpA during the summer of 1957. Bankruptcy was looming over the company that Enzo and his wife built 10 years previously, and to save it Enzo decides to roll the dice on the iconic Mille Miglia, a treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy which ends in equal measures of both tragedy and glory.

Starring Adam Driver as Enzo Ferrari and Penelope Cruz as his wife Laura, ‘Ferrari’ was released in the US on December 25th, 2023, to positive reviews, has grossed more than US$35 million and was named in the top 10 movies for 2023.

According to the New Yor Post movie review – ‘Ferrari starts on cruise control and then floors it”.

At the moment, it can only be seen in cinemas, but it’s only a matter of time before it’s available on one of the streaming services. By all reports it’s a good watch and is the classic ‘and the plot thickens’ movies. Here’s the official trailer:
