In this month’s Famous Last Words Podcast I talk with Gavin King, Director of Concours Sportscar Restoration in Tuggerah, NSW where he tells me about many of his amazing restorations and rebuilds.
During the conversation, we talk about a car he’s restored and looked after for many years for a long-term customer which is currently for sale, a 1981, 5.3 litre V8, three speed automatic gear box Aston Martin Lagonda Series 2.
I’ve always found these cars to be a ‘dilemma’ for me, as you have the absolutely beautiful DB4’s and DB6’s, and even the beautiful sleek lines of the current Aston Martin range but stuck in the company’s dark past is the Lagonda, that in my opinion is only marginally more attractive than the Leyland P76 which I think set a very low bar in the ‘Ugly Cars’ category.
As you can imagine, Gavin didn’t agree with me and as I’ve found out, most Aston Martin enthusiasts think I’m a philistine …… , but if you’d like to know more about this particular Lagonda and what it’s worth, go to the Concourse Sportscar Restoration – Aston Martin Lagonda link.
There is however one thing that I really admire, is a person with a true love and passion for a car, and there is no doubt that Peter Wright the current owner of the said Aston Martin Lagonda mentioned above, has for his pride and joy in this CARSofAUSTRALIA.com.au video
