I first met Ian Swan when he was one of the drivers in a four car Nissan Patrol Team competing in the 1992 Australian Safari Desert Race. I was lucky enough to be a driver/co-driver in one of the other cars and due to the friendships I made, and the experiences I had, that race is without doubt one of the highlights of my life.

‘Swanny’, as he’s known to most, has competed in many dirt rallies for nearly 50 years. He’s also raced locally in the early Australian Safari’s and Mobil Round Australia Trial, as well as internationally in the Pan Americana Rally and East African Safari, and been involved with the organisation of various rally events including the recent Targa Classica in Victoria.
