Craig Lowndes is one of Australia’s most recognised and successful race drivers.
He started at 15 years of age driving open wheelers in the Formula Ford and Formula Holden series until bursting onto the Touring Car scene in 1994. Since then, he’s gone on to win many national titles and is mostly acknowledged for his Mount Panorama Bathurst 1000 record of seven victories and fourteen podiums.
What many people may not be aware of is that Craig also has a love for dirt racing, in fact he and navigator Kees Weel won the 6-day 2010 Australasian Safari in a Holden Rodeo. So, although not totally new to dirt racing, he recently achieved one of his bucket lists goals by competing in the 2024 Finke Desert Race at Alice Springs.
Craig and accomplished navigator Dale Moscatt competed and a new Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 and tackled what is regarded as one of Australia’s toughest races for man and machine.
