As a die heart Nissan GTR-R32 fan, I recently realised that the Gods really have gone crazy when I read that Nissan has officially ushered in a new era with the debut of its fully electric GTR-R32. Although some view this as a ground-breaking move that merges decades of performance legacy with the future of automotive technology……. to me it’s Sacrilege.
The original R32 GT-R, affectionately known as “Godzilla,” revolutionized the performance car world when it debuted in 1989, thanks to its advanced technology, all-wheel drive system, and potent RB26DETT twin-turbo engine. Now, more than three decades later, Nissan has taken those same principles of precision, power, and innovation and reimagined them with a fully electric heart.
Under the sleek, aggressive bodywork, the new GTR-R32EV swaps the renowned twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine for a sophisticated multi-motor electric drivetrain which delivers unparalleled instant torque, accelerating the GTREV from 0 to 100 kmh in just under 2 seconds—making it one of the fastest accelerating cars in the world. With a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup, the GTR-R32EV delivers razor-sharp handling and dynamic stability, reminiscent of its combustion predecessors but with even greater efficiency and responsiveness.
Nissan has spared no expense in retaining the R32’s iconic design, keeping its aggressive stance and sharp lines while incorporating futuristic elements like adaptive LED lighting and active aerodynamics. Inside, the cabin features a modernized version of the GTR’s driver-focused layout, complete with a digital cockpit, advanced infotainment system, and a suite of cutting-edge safety features.
Beyond performance, the GTR-R32EV’s electric powertrain offers a level of refinement and sustainability that was previously unthinkable for such a high-performance car. With a large battery pack providing an impressive range and the ability to charge at ultra-fast speeds, the GTREV is as practical as it is exhilarating. The transition to electric not only provides a greener alternative but enhances the driving experience with smoother power delivery and reduced mechanical complexity.

While the shift to electric technology may surprise some, it’s probably a natural evolution for the GTR brand, which has always been at the forefront of automotive innovation. The GTR-R32EV stays true to the spirit of the original while embracing the future of performance. For both long-time fans and new enthusiasts, the GTR-R32EV represents a thrilling new direction for one of the most iconic names in automotive history.
I guess in the end, Nissan has kept the legacy of the R32 alive, proving that the future of high-performance driving can be both electrifying and sustainable and maybe the GTR-R32EV is a glimpse into what the future holds—a perfect balance of tradition, innovation, and pure driving excitement.
