A Redneck Corvette Stingray

Home » A Redneck Corvette Stingray

I feel as though I should start this article with a warning note:

  • If you are a full-blooded Chevrolet Corvette Stingray fan – don’t read on
  • If you don’t like seeing beautiful pieces of machinery treated poorly – don’t read on
  • If you can’t tolerate irresponsible driving, all be it in a legal way!!!! – don’t read on
  • If you find redneck southern American people obnoxious – don’t read on

However, if you enjoy some good-hearted fun at the expense of a classic car, this may be good for you.

I’ve been fortunate over the years to ride choppers and rat bikes with groups of friends through the southern states of America, from North and South Carolina through Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida, and I’ve loved every minute of it. To some these friends that I ride with may be classed as the proverbial American ‘Rednecks’, but I love them.

FYI, according to Wikipedia: ‘Redneck is a derogatory term mainly, but not exclusively, applied to white Americans perceived to be crass and unsophisticated, closely associated with rural whites of the Southern United States. Its meaning possibly stems from the sunburn found on farmers’ necks dating back to the late 19th century’.

To me, they’re a lot like like the loud, obnoxious, and annoying uncle who every adult in my family hates, but every kid wants to hang out with because he’s just too awesome……. I actually had an Uncle Bob that fitted the bill nicely.

As I’m a big fan of the Chevy Corvette and in particular the Stingray, especially the classic models from the 70’s and 80’s (not the Ferrari rip off’s of today) I was intrigued to come across the following video for several reasons, one – the thought of an off-road Corvette seemed appealing and secondly when I heard a redneck was involved, I figured I had to have a look.

Hope you enjoy this Westen Champlin video, and I reckon the car itself looks pretty cool:
