I love the term “Bad Ass Rowdy Beast’, and I can’t wait to use it when referring to my nephew, but on this occasion, it’s Josh, co-owner of Illinois based custom shop Roadster Shop, referring to their restomod of a 1971 Chev Camaro into what is known as the ‘Road Rage Camaro’.
This iconic muscle car was unveiled in 2018 at the renowned SEMA Show with a mass of upgrades, both cosmetic and mechanical, including a specially built engine that makes 750 horsepower.
The Road Rage Camaro’s redesign was inspired by the European road racing cars of the 1960s and 70s. With accentuated fender flares and driver-focused design, this work of art has the spark of a roadster with the heart of a muscle car
Technically speaking, this widebody 1971 Chevrolet Camaro is powered by a 750HP 454ci Texas Speed LSX mated to a Bowler Performance Tremec T56. Magnum Transmission and rides on a Roadster Shop Fast Track chassis, Penske Racing Shocks coilovers, Baer brakes, 315/30ZR18 & 345/30ZR19 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, the Forgeline Flush-Loc Centerlock conversion kit, and center locking Forgeline LS3C Concave wheels finished with Satin Race Gold centers & Gloss Black outers.
As far as the interior is concerned, it looks nothing short of amazing. Colour co-ordinated roll cage, immaculate trimming and to top it off, the rear suspension is on full display as a part of the cabin interior, after all who really needs a rear seat or for that matter storage area!
The ‘Road Rage Camaro’ is one of the best retromods I’ve seen that hasn’t butchered the total look of the original car but in fact pays homage to it by transferring what some may consider to be a mundane car into fire breathing work of art.
