There are plenty of great car shows on the calendar, but few have a setting quite like the Point Nepean Heritage Motor Show.
Set against the spectacular coastal backdrop of Point Nepean, the event brings together a carefully curated mix of heritage, classic and enthusiast vehicles. Perhaps what makes the show particularly special is the number of rare and privately owned cars that you simply don’t see at traditional car shows or club displays.
For 2026, Famous Insurance was proud to once again be part of the event, with the Rotary Club of Sorrento putting together another brilliant day. Nearly 300 vehicles were pre-registered, alongside displays from clubs including the Bolwell Car Club, Triumph Sports Owners Association, Mercedes-Benz Club, MG Car Club Victoria, Porsche Club and more.
Glenn Ridge brings out his new WRX STI
Famous Insurance ambassador Glenn Ridge joined us for the day with his recently acquired Subaru WRX STI tarmac rally car, which is being prepared for its upcoming Targa Tasmania debut.
Fresh from a shakedown at Winton, the purpose-built car came out of Dean Herridge’s Maximum Motorsport operation in Western Australia. Originally built as a tarmac rally STI for Dutton’s, the car was prepared for competition but never actually raced, making it a particularly interesting piece of Australian motorsport history.
Glenn is understandably excited about finally putting it to work:
“It’s a great balanced car. It’s essentially a production STI with a few tweaks. It’s actually a JDM version, so it’s a 2.0-litre, and it’s quite softly sprung, but the AWD gives it great sure-footedness. It should be a great car for what I need.”

Something for every kind of enthusiast
One of the great things about Point Nepean is the sheer variety.
British motoring was particularly well represented, from a bright orange Series 1 Lotus Elise through to the stunning Jaguar Project 7. Two Roaring Forties GT40 recreations looked right at home sitting on the green grass, while a Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale provided a link to Ferrari’s modern generation of harder-edged, performance-focused road cars.
At the other end of the scale, quirky and increasingly collectible Japanese cars like the pint-sized Autozam AZ-1 proved that a car doesn’t need a supercar badge to draw a crowd.
The Mercedes-Benz display was another standout, spanning generations of the marque with modern performance heroes such as the AMG GT R Pro sitting alongside the elegance of a bright yellow 190 SL.
Two genuine showstoppers
Perhaps two of the most memorable cars of the entire event came courtesy of Melbourne’s Dymond Collection.
Their beautifully presented Aston Martin DB4 and BMW 328 were spectacular, and against the heritage buildings and coastal surroundings of Point Nepean, they were about as picture-perfect as classic motoring gets.
Put Point Nepean on your calendar
If you haven’t experienced the Point Nepean Heritage Motor Show before, it’s definitely one to add to the calendar.
Great cars, car clubs, food trucks and family activities all combine with one of the most picturesque motoring event locations in Victoria. More importantly, it has that relaxed, community feel that makes it just as enjoyable for passionate enthusiasts as it is for families simply wanting a great day out.
Famous Insurance is proud to support events that bring the motoring community together, and we’re already looking forward to the next Point Nepean Heritage Motor Show.
