Podcast – Australian Rally Champion David ‘Dinta’ Officer

David Officer is without doubt one of Australia’s top dirt rally drivers.

He and his co-driver wife Kate were one of our top teams throughout the 80’s and 90’s winning the Australian Rally Championship in 1984 and finishing in the top 5 in two rounds of the World Rally Championship in New Zealand. He’s also an accomplished desert racer winning the Australian safari in 1989 and 91 and is currently the Assistant Event Director of the upcoming Classic Outback Trial which will take competitors from Parkes through Orange to finish in Bathurst from March 7–13 2021.

Inducted into the Australian and Victorian Halls of Fame, David still competes in historic rally events and can be seen at many events around Australia and overseas as part of the Rallysafe motorsport management system Technical Team.

In our chat we talk about his early rallying days, his cars, the 1995 Round Australia Trial, what made him decide to enter a 1960 DeSoto in the 1979 Alpine Rally and much more.

I hope you enjoy this month’s Famous Last Words Podcast with David Officer.
