’Garage 41’ television series on 7Mate and Famous Insurance helps to make it happen

In the 2000’s I had the pleasure of producing a motoring series for the Nine Network titled ‘The Car Show’, which went for 6 years. An imaginative title that left no doubt as to what the series was all about, in fact it was so successful our sponsors asked if we’d do a similar series on boats, so we did, and called it ‘The Boat Show’ which went for 5 years. As you can see we didn’t spend a lot of money on a creative agency to come up with flash names!

I really enjoyed being a part of both series and over that period had the opportunity to drive amazing cars in some incredible places and situations. More importantly I was able to make wonderful friends who shared the same passion for motoring and boating as I do.

So I’m thrilled to be producing a new motoring/biking series called ‘Garage 41’, that will air on 7Mate every Saturday at 3pm from April 18 th , and will also be available to be viewed for free on 7plus.

I’ll be joined by a couple of mates who know a hell of a lot more about cars than I do, carsales’ Editor in Chief, Mike Sinclair (Sinkers) and Auto Journalist, passionate car lover and real character, Dave Morley, whose known to all his mates as ‘Morley’.

Shot in the spectacular showroom of Dutton Garage in Richmond Victoria, ‘Garage 41’ is set to be the go-to series for motoring enthusiasts, car collectors and petrol heads alike. It will cover current issues and industry insights, highlight new and old cars, and feature famous faces in a fun filled, informative and engaging way.

As a supporter of ‘Garage 41’, Famous Insurance is aligned with our ‘Famous Faces’ component where we talk with a whole range of people who share our love of motoring like Entertainer – Shane Jacobson, muso and funnyman – Wilbur Wilde, Supercar Driver – Dave Reynolds, the first woman in the world to reach 300mph in a car – Rachell Splatt, internationally renowned coach builder – Brian Tanti, Rally driver – Molly Taylor and young Australian racing F3 in Europe – Alex Peroni.

Through Sinkers position at carsales.com.au, he’ll keep us up to date with things happening in the motoring world and carsales.com.au editorial experts will also provide us with a first-look at the latest features and reviews.

Morley will go over some of the very special cars that Dutton Garage have, like a 1961 Jaguar E Type Flat Floor Roadster; the first Porsche to be imported into Australia – a 1951 Porsche 356 Split Screen Coupe; a Ferrari Type F140 – Enzo Ferrari: and a 1964 Citroen DW19 Decapotable just to name a few.

Being a big Tarmac Rally fan, I’ll also look at how to prepare a competition Targa car, being a part of the Targa Tour, the history of Targa Tasmania and some of the characters in the sport. We’ll also let you know how you can be a part of classic Tarmac events like Targa High Country (Victoria), Targa Great Barrier Reef (Queensland) and Targa Tasmania.

And Garage 41’s bike of choice is the Indian Motorcycle, so we’ll be riding old and new Indian motorcycles in Australia and New Zealand; going to the Burt Munroe Challenge in Invercargill – the home of the Worlds Fastest Indian; and talking with passionate Indian riders.

This is just a sample of what ‘Garage 41’ will deliver on 7mate from Saturday April 18th at 3:00pm, and I’m really looking forward to being a part of what I’m sure will be a fun series. I hope you can join us.

Just digressing, I mentioned that we look at an Enzo Ferrari car on Garage 41, whilst researching for the story I came across this great video clip that shows an Enzo being driven in a very different way to what you would envisage it should be…
